Lose Weight in the New Year

new year
I am in full support of New Year’s Resolutions for weight loss. I am in support of any motivator to finally take action to change your health. There is no better time than today, and if you are reading this and it is before January 1, 2014, I recommend that you don’t even wait until January. Why not choose to make a lifestyle change now? Why not prevent 5 more pounds of weight gain through the holidays?

Ask yourself this very important question: What type of life do you want?

What motivates you?

Do you want to fit back into clothes in your closet?

Play with your kids without getting winded?

Lower your blood pressure and maybe get off medication?

Feel more confident in your job?

Be a role model for your child?

Do you want to run a marathon?

Our biggest obstacle to success is ourselves. The first step in taking control of your health is to make the decision to put your health as a priority. Make the decision that you are worth the time and energy to make the investment in yourself.

Many of you know that I have had my own weight loss journey – that I have lost 100 pounds and now educate my patients on how to do the same. New Year’s Day four1 years ago was a big moment for me. It was the first time I could ever remember having resolutions that had nothing to do with wanting to lose weight. Or wanting to fit back in clothes. Or wanting to feel better. I want the same for you. I want you to know what it feels like to have taken control of your life and health.

So make 2014 the year that changes your life. Commit to yourself that you are going to make your health and wellness a priority for yourself and those you love.

Athena is here to help.
